Jesús David Jerez-Gómez / Assistant Professor of Spanish From Huelva (Andalucía, Spain), graduated from Universidad de Granada. Pursued M.A. at Kansas State University, and completed his Ph.D. in Spanish Literature of the Early Modern Period at the University of California, Davis. His dissertation "Orality and Oralization in Early Modern Spanish Society" focuses in the oral transmission of the written text. Language: Spanish, Spanish Literature, Early Modern and Golden Age Spanish Literature, Medieval Spanish Literature. Courses: SPAN 446: Don Quijote, SPAN 371: Medieval and Golden Age, SPAN 402: Peninsular Culture and Civilization, SPAN 318: Introduction to Literature Analysis, SPAN 302: Advanced Composition, SPAN 212: Composition, SPAN 213: Composition for Spanish Speakers, SPAN 155: Spanish for Heritage Speakers. Research Activities: While in UC Davis participated in the Folk Literature of the Sephardic Jews and Ballad Project with Prof. Samuel G. Armistead: http://www.sephardifolklit.org/flsj/ Main field of research is the performance and oral public transmission of Early Modern Literature, oralization of the written text in social contexts of Golden Age Spain. Presentations in this field at the Society of Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry, Renaissance Conference of Southern California, Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas, Cervantes Symposium of California, and upcoming at the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Interdisciplinary Symposium.
