Marhaba and Welcome to the California State University San Bernardino’s Arabic Summer Language Intensive & Residential Program. Our program is open to all motivated and mature students from the U.S. and abroad. It is one of the most rigorous, engaging, and affordable programs in the nation. We welcome you to take on the challenge to compare and contrast. We know you will come back to us.
Our philosophy is clear and simple: we treat participants with utmost respect, cater to their individual needs, and provide them with the most supportive and enriching environment to learn the Arabic language and its culture. Our pledge is to exceed our participants' expectations and to keep our program as the most competitive, personalized, and stimulating Arabic program in the U.S.
In return, we expect you to work very hard, adhere to the language pledge, respect your fellow students and faculty, and come with an attitude for learning in a stimulating but very demanding environment. In order to maintain high quality instruction and provide individualized attention, only a limited number of students will be admitted.

PROGRAM VIDEO FROM PAST SUMMER SESSIONS
During the Summer 2012, we will be offering three distinct, engaging and stimulating sessions:
1-Intensive Beginning Arabic:
This program is geared for individuals who have no prior knowledge of Arabic. During the seven-week session, participants will complete the equivalent of an entire year of Beginning College Arabic. Students should expect to spend their weeks, Mondays through Saturdays, immersed in the program all day long. The program includes extra curricular activities, such as learning the art of calligraphy, folk dancing, ethnic cooking, in addition to watching and discussing movies from the Arab world, listening to guest speakers speeches, going on field trips and camping outings during late night evenings and extended weekends.
This program is specially tailored for students who have already completed the equivalent of one year of Arabic language at the college level. This program is both intensive and residential: i.e., students are strongly encouraged to live in the dorms to fully benefit from the immersion program. The extra curricular activities described in the Intensive Beginning Arabic program above are requirements for this one. In addition, students will be living, communicating, interacting and connecting with Native Arab students.
This program has been carefully crafted for students to develop their language skills at the Intermediate high - Advanced High level. During Summer 2012, our students will be part of a very rich program in Jordan that combines all activities already included in the residential/intensive programs in addition to combining language study with visits to historic and tourist attractions and doing internships and/or community service in several non-governmental organizations. This program will give participants the opportunity to be fully immersed and connected with the people and cultures of the Arab world.
