Description

A bachelor's degree in French combines study of language, literature and culture to give you a well-rounded curriculum that develops your linguistic proficiency while also increasing your knowledge of the Francophone world. Students choose from one of three concentrations (tracks)-- Business, Culture and Literature. Students from all three tracks must also complete the common set of Core courses. You can transfer up to 32 credits of upper-division coursework from the International Program or classes taken at other institutions.

Information for teacher candidates

The Civilization and Literature tracks have been approved by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing: this means that you will not be required to take the PRAXIS or CSET exam in order to gain entry into a teaching credential program. In order to qualify, you must take French 407: Comparative Linguistics and French 500: Advanced Assessment. These courses also count towards your graduation requirement.
